World Bellydance Day approaching....
it's time to Shimmy Mob!

If you are reading this article chances are you are either a bellydancer or like bellydance. Even so, you may not have heard of World Bellydance Day.
The first time I heard of WBD was about a year ago. I wondered then why I had not heard about it before...

For many years now many in this part of the world have been trying to elevate bellydance to a much higher standard, and show the general public that this is a true art form. The moment we step out of our bellydance community it is easy to see that the general public still knows almost nothing about bellydance as an art form. World Bellydance Day seems to be the perfect opportunity to give the dance some additional exposure.

.
A Message from the Producer
How can we let people know about World Bellydance Day and at the same time do something fun that gives back to the community? The answer is to be part of Shimmy Mob, a flash mob type event, with a multitude of benefits for all involved

Shimmy Mob objectives are as follows:
To produce a professional quality bellydance flash mob type event formed by trained dancers with the objective of performing a choreographed medley of Cabaret, ATS and Tribal Fusion styles. The Shimmy Mob performances will occur throughout World Bellydance Day  and will serve to promote the dance, participating dance teachers and schools offering free related events happening in the local participating areas.   The event is pre-arranged at officially pre-authorized locations at specific times. The media is involved in this project and there is nothing random about Shimmy Mob. The additional main objective is to raise donationsand awareness. Funds raised via Shimmy Mob will be donated to Abused Women and Children shelters in the areas.
