Alexia of Knoxville, Tennessee is a renowned International Performer, master teacher, and advocate of Middle Eastern Dance. Alexia’s love of dance stems from a background in jazz and modern dance, which she began as a teenager. She now teaches all levels of Middle Eastern "Belly Dance" in Knoxville and Blount County areas. She is also an event sponsor and director of the Alexandria Dancers and produces a show yearly now called Arabian Nights. Alexia believes that a teacher has a responsibility to learn and convey to her students as much about the culture of the dance and music as the movements themselves.

Arabesque World Dance was created with the purpose of introducing culture to the community through dance and music. The studio’s theme was originally designed to harmonize with traditional, folkloric and fusion dance from the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean. However, we want Arabesque to represent dance in all of its forms, and we have high hopes that Arabesque will ultimately become a common ground for diverse dance styles to encourage and complement one another. As a universal dance community we can share a common bond…through a love of the arts, through artistic expression, and above all….through movement and music.
Arabesque is first and foremost, a school to teach and mentor the aspiring artist, a provider for those seeking Health and Wellness courses, and a social dance studio where dancers can gather and share their knowledge and love of their art. Chaz Kemp is a brilliant artist. His work has been on the covers of books, in galleries and in the homes of many fans of sci-fi and fantasy. "I love SteamPunk, CyberPunk, and Fantasy. SteamPunk and CyberPunk are all about creatively defying authority and forging your own path. It is resistance as art. Fantasy is all about visualizing your dream and then defying the odds to achieve it no matter who you are or what you look like. This is why I draw culturally diverse characters in the watercolor style. Publishers and corporations say that diverse characters don't sell. I love proving them wrong. Defying the odds is what defines me, and forging my own path is what drives me. Art is Rebellion." Chaz is a firm supporter of the performing arts, having been a member of the acapella group Pandora Celtica for many years. He is also married to a beautifully talented belly dancer! Chaz is providing art work for our silent auction this year. Thank you, Chaz!
